Gordon’s own Tylan Grable made his NFL debut earlier this month, logging 18 snaps at left tackle and 17 snaps at right tackle in Buffalo’s 33-6 loss to Chicago.

Grable, who lined up with Buffalo’s second-team offense, also has the versatility to play guard, thus increasing his chances of making the Bills’ 53-man regular-season roster. Prior to last Saturday’s game, it wasn’t immediately clear if Buffalo’s coaches would play Grable at guard or tackle.

Grable created plenty of buzz during the Bills’ first week of training camp. Despite the strong start, the consensus among Bills’ bloggers and beat writers is that Grable needs to continue to impress coaches in training camp or run the risk of being placed on the practice squad or placed on waivers. All 32 NFL teams must make their final cuts and announce their final 53-man roster by Aug. 27. If Grable is ultimately released by the Bills, he would have no problems being signed by another team for its practice squad, based on Grable’s size and athleticism.

Grable, Wilkinson County High Class of 2018, put his name on the draft map after running the 40-yard dash in 4.95 seconds at the NFL Combine in March, testing as one of the most “athletic” offensive tackle prospects at the Combine in recent memory. He ultimately was drafted in the sixth round. However, along with “athletic,” the word “raw” also is used to describe Grable, who played quarterback for WCSHS and began his college career as a tight end.
