The Times Journal Post launched a new website and announced its first newsletter Thursday, delivering dedicated local reporting to a digital audience.
The website will feature work from the Times Journal Post newsroom, which includes coverage from The Twiggs Times New Era, The Cochran Journal and The Wilkinson County Post. Subscribe to our coverage at timesjournalpost.com/membership and sign up to receive our free newsletter.
The TJP also recently hired Mary Helene Hall to cover news in Bleckley and Twiggs counties. Chris McKearney will continue to cover Wilkinson County news for the Times Journal Post. To contact Hall, email news@timesjournalpost.com.
“It’s very exciting to expand the reach of our newspaper,” GTLN Executive Director DuBose Porter said. “We will deliver news in whatever way our readers prefer: online, via newsletters and in print. This is a giant leap forward for the Times Journal Post.”
The new website is integral to the ongoing transformation efforts from the Georgia Trust for Local News, which recently acquired the Times Journal Post and 17 other newspapers across Georgia and launched The Macon Melody.
“National news media often overlooks the South, especially smaller communities,” Hall said. “Twiggs and Bleckley deserve quality coverage of what’s impacting their counties, and I’m excited to be part of this transition for the Times Journal Post.”
The website was built by Indiegraf, a company that specializes in websites and digital products for independent, local news companies. The Times Journal Post will continue to publish a print edition each week. The Georgia Trust for Local News is part of the National Trust for Local News, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening community news by working with communities to make the at-scale, transformational changes needed for established community news organizations to thrive and remain deeply grounded in their communities. NTLN operates state-level trusts in Colorado and Maine, in addition to Georgia.
