Another fiery big rig crash recorded at 441/112 intersection
Both big rigs ultimately caught on fire, creating another long clean-up for first responders.

For the third time in two months, a pair of big rigs collided at the intersection of US 441 and Ga. 112, just north of the Wilkinson/Laurens county line.
The crash occurred on Tuesday morning. Both big rigs ultimately caught on fire, creating another long clean-up for first responders. Neither truck driver sustained serious injuries, according to Wilkinson County Coroner Billy Matthews. One truck was hauling sheetrock, while the other was hauling roughly 50,000 pounds of granite, further protracting the clean-up.
Just last week, the county commission approved a Georgia Department of Transportation plan to install a series of “flashing LED stop sign ahead” signs for motorists driving along 112 and approaching 441. These signs will be posted in both directions, coming from Toomsboro and coming from Allentown.
Also, a new $4 million roundabout at the intersection has been greenlit, although the project won’t begin until August 2025 at the very earliest. Overall, the DOT continues to be on a roundabout kick, with roughly 290 roundabout projects currently “under construction” or “in development” around the Peach State, according to its website.
Tuesday’s crash was eerily similar to the one earlier this summer that resulted in the death of a Milledgeville truck driver. In that crash, a California truck driver was travelling west on Ga. 112 and coming from the direction of Toomsboro. The driver apparently didn’t notice the stop sign at 112’s intersection with 441 and/or didn’t realize that he was supposed to stop. That truck then collided with a truck heading north on US 441 and towards Irwinton. The driver of the northbound big rig – Randall “Sunk” Wilson – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Tuesday’s crash was the same scenario, with the truck driver at fault barreling through the intersection and the other truck driver heading north on 441.
